Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood is the
largest Community Safety Partnership (CSP) in the county of
Nottinghamshire, and is co-terminus with the areas of both Bassetlaw
District Council and Newark and Sherwood District Council. The
Partnership covers some 129,000 hectares, which represents almost 60% of
the total area of Nottinghamshire. With a total population of over
223,000 people almost evenly split between the two councils, the
Partnership serves some 20% of the total population of the county.
The Partnership
reflects the police boundaries and enables partners to combine
resources, which allows more effective problem solving across the two
districts.
The Government requires certain
statutory bodies to work together to improve Community Safety in a local
area. Agencies legally bound to work in this way include Local
Authorities, the Police, the Fire and Rescue Service and the Primary
Care Trust. Other agencies like those working in the Criminal Justice
System, local businesses and the community voluntary sector are also
viewed as essential contributors for sustainable crime and disorder
reduction.
