The Learning & Skills Sub-Group of the BLSP are currently organising the annual Bassetlaw Skills Fair to promote the opportunities for education and training within the district. This year’s theme is ‘Learning Together’, and will showcase opportunities across all theme areas of the BLSP. The event will be held on the 20th May 2004 at the Town Hall, Retford, and will be promoted as part of the National Adult Learners Week 15-21 May 2004.
The day will include a Breakfast Break meeting where local businesses can share learning success stories and training schemes. The Bassetlaw Community & Voluntary Service will facilitate a meeting of voluntary organisations within the district to discuss how they can provide training opportunities, support training providers and promote the take-up of learning and employment opportunities amongst their members. It will also provide an occasion where they can share information on schemes already in place.
Throughout the day there will be an exhibition open to the public and schools where training providers, universities, careers guidance services, adult education specialists, employment advisors and local businesses will have stands and interactive displays, giving information and advice on the education and training opportunities they can offer.
The climax of the day will be an Awards Ceremony highlighting the many and varied achievements of Bassetlaw people and organisations. As last year, those nominated will receive Bassetlaw Lifelong Learning Awards, in their respective categories.
